Bluetooth will soon be able to access WLANs

Bluetooth is going to become better soon. In future a mobile device will be able to access the nearest wireless network (Wi-Fi) using Bluetooth. It is expected that the throughput will be increased to transfer video, audio and huge data to the nearby Wi-Fi network. The present version of Bluetooth is 2.1 and the above facility could be expected in Bluetooth version of 3.0. An Alternate MAC/PHY layer will be able to support this. Alternate MAC/PHY will enable the device to use the 802.11x only when additional bandwidth is needed and will operate in normal mode when the standard Bluetooth bandwidth (3Mbit/sec) is enough.
